1. General Provisions

These terms and conditions (hereinafter – “conditions”) apply to all the contents in this booking engine.
We would strongly advise to read these conditions before using Crystal Car Rental Ltd website.
Please note that the use of this website indicates your agreement with these conditions.

Note that Crystal Car Rental Mauritius known and represented as ‘Crystal Car Rental Ltd’ throughout this policy.

Crystal Car Rental Ltd may also modify these conditions at any time.
Consequently such a modification will take effect immediately upon posting the modified terms and conditions on this website.

Crystal Car Rental Ltd is legally registered and recognized with the National Transport Authority of Mauritius whereby they are the body responsible for permitting the rental of cars in Mauritius.
The National Transport Authority in Mauritius together with the Ministry of Tourism are responsible in ensuring that all the procedures are followed in accordance for the car rental in Mauritius.

2. Rental includes the following:

    • Unlimited mileage

    • Local taxes

    • Insurance

    • 24 Hour Road Assistance

    • First Additional Driver

3. Rental excludes the following:

    • Fines / Airport parking fee

    • Fuel

    • Cancellation fee

    • late return

    • loss of car keys or documents

    • Delivery or recovery of cars in hotels , apartments or villas

4. Terms Of Sale

Bookings made through Crystal Car Rental Ltd website are subject to the terms below:

All prices are listed in Euro or any other designated currency and is inclusive of VAT. To note this is the applicable rate at the time of your order.

The user will be required to read and accept the terms and conditions which are displayed on our website before making a purchase. Once the purchase has been made, the user and merchant will be bound by such terms and conditions and both parties will receive a purchase confirmation email.

Crystal Car Rental Ltd does not guarantee against pricing errors or issues with regards to programming and reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to not process or to cancel any orders placed for a product or service whose price was incorrectly posted or issues with programming that results in an error. If this occurs, Crystal Car Rental Ltd will notify you by email and or by phone and a full refund will be given. In addition, Crystal Car Rental Ltd reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to correct any error in vehicle / model availability.

Crystal Car Rental Ltd may, in its sole discretion, verify a user’s identity prior to processing a purchase. In addition we may also refuse to process, or may cancel, a purchase, as reasonably deemed necessary to comply with applicable law or to respond to cases of misrepresentation, fraud or known or potential violations of the law or these Terms of Use.

5. Delivery / Drop off and Mandatory documents

We will ensure that a representative will be on-site to meet you and greet you at your designated meeting point. It is essential that you inform us of the flight information either for arrival or departures, so that our representatives can be there on time.

If this information is not available at the time of booking. Please ensure that you inform us at least 7 days prior to your departure, via email or by phone.

Crystal Car Rental Ltd will take no responsibility for a failed rental due to late or improper supply of this information. Consequently failure to supply this information also alleviates the responsibility of Crystal Car Rental

 

Moreover, at the time of collecting the car, customers will be required to produce the following:

    • valid driver’s license from country of origin

    • a valid passport and a valid credit card in renter’s (driver’s) name.

Following all the procedures and after having signed the rental agreement, an inspection of the rental vehicle shall be carried out.

This procedure should take place between the “Renter” and our representatives. During this period all apparent defects and fuel level shall be listed and signed by both parties.

The signed inspection sheet by the client and Crystal Car Rental Ltd designated representative shall be used as reference to the condition of the vehicle, items and accessories and shall be binding in case of dispute.

At the end of rental, an inspection shall be done upon drop off of the rented vehicle to check for any new damages, scratches, dents etc to the vehicle. This procedure should be carried out strictly in the presence of our representatives.

6. Crystal Car Rental Ltd Mauritius Payment Policy

The client shall guarantee that the credit card details are correct, that the credit or debit card they are using is their own and that there are sufficient funds to cover the cost.

When placing an order through the website online. Following your order on the website your order shall be sent for processing and within 24hrs we shall confirm your order. (Crystal Car Rental Ltd) will send a payment link to the client for payment. In the event of non-payment from the client, we shall reserve the full right to cancel your booking.

We don’t accept any payment in cash and all payment is processed online through our payment link system.

A deposit (Pre-Authorisation) of Rs25,000 will also be applicable. The Pre-Authorisation amount of Rs25,000.00 will not be charged to your Debit Card or Credit Card instantly but will give us the right to charge your card up to this amount in the event of damage to the vehicle which is effectively known as the Insurance Excess (CDW) at a later date.

Your liability towards your excess will be dependent upon the type of Insurance cover you have chosen on your order and our insurance policy cover shall be applicable. Please visit our Insurance Policy page for further details.

7. Delivery fee and Recovery fee

Cars are delivered at the airport or any other location for a fee of €15 and a charge of €15 is also applicable for recovery of the car from the Airport. Please note that delivery fee for every area shall be highlighted in your reservation online.

We only charge a delivery fee of no more than €30 across the whole of Mauritius.
Please take into account that delivery fees can be different for each cars model and also dependent on availability.

8. Late Pick-ups / Early Drop-offs

Essentially the rental starts and finishes according to the pick-up and drop-off dates. This is in accordance to the times as mentioned on your voucher.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide refunds for unused time if a car is picked up late or dropped off early.

In the event whereby you are unable to pick the car up at the agreed time and date. It is of significance importance that you should inform us as soon as possible.
Otherwise, there is no guarantee that the car will still be available and you will not be entitled to any refund. In case of late drop-off, a surcharge is applicable and may be higher than normal rates.

9. Daily Rate Calculations

Our fleets of vehicles are rented at a daily rate according to the agreed charge. One day being defined as any period of 24 hrs from the time of commencement of the rental agreement.
A grace period of 30 minutes is allowed for the time due back. After this a day charge will be made for each additional day.

10. Vehicle Group / Model

We cannot guarantee any particular make, model or fuel type of car that has been booked by the renter. Cars on display are the most commonly used and may be substituted for an alternative, similar or upgraded car (at no extra cost) at our discretion.

If, at time of pickup, it becomes impossible to provide your booked car as shown on your rental voucher.
Such instances related due to breakdown or an accident or any other reason due to unforeseen circumstances. Please note that we should then provide you with a similar or upgraded car.

Consequently if we are unable to provide either a similar or upgraded car, we`ll issue a full refund of the initial payment.

However, in such circumstances, Crystal Car Rental Ltd Mauritius excludes any liability of any additional charges, compensation or any direct or indirect loss resulting from such changes.

11. Additional Driver Policy

It is allowed to add additional drivers. When collecting the vehicle, all drivers must be present and produce valid documentation.
First additional driver is free of charge. There is a daily charge of EUR 10 per day per next additional driver.

12. Special Equipment

Available special equipment requested at time of booking or purchased locally: Child seat, Booster seat & GPS navigation system. Prices for extras are shown on the booking page and subject to availability.

13. Provision of Cars

We reserve the right to refuse a car to any person who is considered unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements.

In addition we will not be liable for the completion of travel arrangements. Nor for any refund, compensation or any other costs to you the renter, may have to pay in such a case.

Furthermore we will not be held responsible for anyone driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
As a result causing damage while driving off-road or driving without due care and attention.

In case of an accident and it is not you who is responsible of the situation i.e not your fault or any unforeseen circumstances. Crystal Car Rental Ltd Mauritius shall provide you with either a downgrade or an upgrade and necessary adjustments shall be done.

In the event of accident by renter and it is your fault and the vehicle is damaged badly and not road worthy. No replacement vehicle will be supplied and full insurance excess cost will be applicable as per contract.

We will inform the customer in advance of any changes in his reservation.
For instance, due to unavailability, If no car cannot be supplied, we shall refund you your payment accordingly if this has already been processed.

However, no adjustment will be the concern of Crystal Car Rental Ltd Mauritius.com if the client try to choose another car rental company.
Crystal best car rental mauritius will not be held responsible for any surplus charges by the third party.

14. Amendments

No charge will be applied for amending your booking 24 hours before the start of your rental unless it is a cancellation.
Certain amendments could affect the rental price such as location, car group or time or date of rental, if it does you will be charged at the current published price, which may be different from what you originally paid.

15. Insurance

All vehicles at Crystal car rental Mauritius are rented with “Comprehensive Insurance”.

Your liability is waived subject to you paying a charge, referred to as an excess which limits your liability to the cost of the excess only.

In the event that the renter has behaved recklessly or negligently or driven under the influence of drugs or alcohol the renter may be liable for the full cost of damage to the vehicle and to any other party involved in the incident who has a claim, as the car insurance will be nullified.

In such instances we will either hold the excess amount on your credit card or by cash to secure this as a deposit. If you return the vehicle undamaged, the deposit will be released immediately.

Whilst the Deductible or Excess amount is shown below:

MUR Rs25,000 or EURO €550

Insurance waivers or extra insurance.

Our Medium Insurance Cover Policy

At Crystal Car Rental Ltd Mauritius you have the option to reduce the deductible to less than half the excess cover of Euro 550. This can be carried out by paying an additional daily rate to your normal rental charges. This is known and referred to as our Medium Insurance Cover online.

Our Premium Insurance Policy

This insurance cover provides you with a full excess cover whereby you are not liable towards paying an excess fee. You are fully covered towards your insurance and are ideal for clients seeking to reduce their risk completely in the event of damages caused to the vehicle due to accident, theft, collision etc…

The above condition of our Medium and Premium Cover policy are based upon the driver having conducted themselves correctly whilst being in a fit capacity to drive the vehicle at any given time. Any self inflicting damages caused by negligence towards the vehicle shall not cover the client, in such instances the client shall be held responsible towards paying a minimum of 50% of the excess for the Premium Cover Insurance towards these damages, whilst the full excess shall be applied towards those on our Medium Cover Insurance.

Nonetheless extra insurance excludes the following :

    1. Loss of car keys.

    1. Damage to the underside, clutch and gear box, the inside of the car and the windshield due to driver`s carelessness

    1. Loss for extras like GPS and car seats.

    1. Damage caused by a driver being influenced by alcohol or drugs.

    1. Any damage not reported to us.

    1. Damage caused by an unauthorized driver.

    1. Client is responsible for any road traffic offences they commit and no policy shall cover such offences.

    1. Negligent driving or without due care and attention, including driving off-road and on un-tarmacked roads.
    1. Procedures for accident and damages to be carried by the client as defined under section 22 within our Terms and Conditions page.

    1. Insurance is covered during cyclonic condition of warning Class 3 in Mauritius. Clients shall be fully liable in the event whereby these conditions haven’t been respected by the client in any force majeure conditions.

16. Cancellation policy, No show & Amendments

Should you cancel your booking up to 7 working days prior to your pick up, you will be refunded in full.
In the event whereby you cancel less than 5 working days prior to your pick up no refund will be made.
Consequently should your prepayment is less than €50, you will not receive any refund.
If your booking is made less than 72 hours before pick up, there will be a cancellation fee which in some cases may be as much as the original rental amount.
All cancellations should be notified online by email to crystalcarsmauritius@gmail.com
Amending your booking or cancelling optional extras may not be possible less than 24 hours before pick up.

It is to be noted that no refund is made for a no show or failure to produce the correct documentation, driver’s license, passport/ ID card, credit card etc.

In addition there will be no refunds on unused days of rental or for early return. As a result the hire shall bear all administration or commission fees for all refunds by bank transfers.

17. Driving age and driver license requirements

Minimum driver age required is 21 yrs.
The maximum driver age is 65 yrs.
The driving license must have been issued by authorized authorities for at least 1 year before the date of the commencement of the rental.

18. Driving age and driver license requirements

Please note that at time of pickup you will be required to leave a security deposit to cover the value of the insurance excess.
Usually it takes the form of an amount being blocked on an international credit card in the name of the primary driver.
The blocked amount will be returned in full at the end of hiring period provided that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as rented.

19. Exchange Rates

Our prices are displayed in different currencies on our website. However all payments will be re-converted into Euros currency.
It is to be noted that payment done only by credit card in Mauritius will be converted into the local currency i.e into Mauritian rupees. So we will not be held responsible for any fluctuation in exchange rates.

20. Out-of-Hours Service

Please note that there is no out-of-hour extra charge in case your flight is delayed. Crystal car rental Mauritius is a customer service oriented company.
We understand you are a traveler and we will wait for you to meet and greet at airport except for mitigating circumstances.

21. Use of the car

At Crystal Car rental Mauritius we always ensure that each vehicle is provided in excellent and good-as-new condition, clean, roadworthy and insured .
All our vehicles shall be returned in the same condition of neatness. It is essential to note the rental car cannot be rented to any other parties except for the contract holder.
In addition it is also prohibited to drive under the influence of drink or drugs or driving off main roads.

 

It is essential that you should firstly return the car to the location you specified. Secondly on the date and thirdly on the time specified in this agreement. Whilst also ensuring that it is returned in the same condition that you received it, except for the ordinary wear.
You will be fully liable in accordance for not having carried out the above conditions.

22. Accidents and Damages

In the event of an accident, a breakdown, a fire or other damage of the rental car. It is essential that the customer informs the rental company and also the police authority immediately. Equally should the police refuse to register the accident, the customer has to prove this in written form.

In the Mauritian context where accident occurs and does not result in bodily harm. In the event whereby there are not more than two vehicles involved.
It is your duty that you and your other party shall mutually proceed to an agreed statements of facts.
In the following event the customer agrees to cooperate in the investigation of the accident. For instance this generally includes gathering names, addresses and license plates of all parties involved and to preserve evidence.

No insurance (normal or extra insurance) will cover damages or repairs cost in the event whereby a renter has failed to submit the “Agreed Statements of Facts” form. After an accident, the car must not be used without the explicit permission of the rental company.

Procedures to carry out in an event of an accident

In the case of breakdown or mechanical difficulties, you, the renter, must call the car hire company immediately. We must give authority for repairs. If you, the renter, are involved in an accident, Crystal Car Rental must be contacted immediately and at the most within 2 hours.

The Hirer moreover undertakes to obtain and submit to the owner the following elements by filling out the accident agreement form provided with the car, this form is usually situated within the glove box compartment in the vehicle:

(a) A full report rough plan of the scene of the accident showing the position of the car involved, with measurements;
(b) the names and addresses of the person involved in the accident;
(c) the name and addresses of the witnesses;
(d) The name and address of the third party’s insurance company. Insurance details may be obtained from windscreen of the car.
(e) You are required to send a scan of your identity card, your driving license and your passport to the management.

Keep copies of all relevant documentation you are asked to complete. This may be needed if you, the renter, wish to make a claim; in case no accidental form is produced by you, our insurance company will not cover you. No refund for the rental fee paid for the unused days. It shall be at the discretion of the management if they are able to provide you another vehicle at the time of the incident.

23. Customer Liability

Under this section the customer is liable for damages to and loss of the car equipment’s or breach of the rental contract according to the established liability rules of the corresponding country if not covered by an insurance.

Furthermore the customer is liable for damages if he does not fulfill his obligation to report the damage on time or if the damage is intentional or due to gross negligence (including races) or the customer did not call the police in case of an accident.
False statements regarding the circumstances of the accident or damage also cause liability of the customer. The customer has a duty to take all suitable actions to avoid unnecessary additional damage. In the event whereby the customer makes repairs without prior authorization by the rental company, no refund payments will be done. All these obligations apply to the additional driver, too.

The liability of the customer ends with the written confirmation of return by the rental company.

Contraventions of road traffic regulations or other laws are to be borne by the customer itself.
In case of a damage which is due to inappropriate driving or non-compliance with these terms, the contract may be terminated by us prematurely.

24. Maintenance / Mechanical problems

It is the duty of the customer to ensure they handle the car with care. For instance this includes checking for proper driving condition, oil level, water level and tyre pressure. Whilst always ensuring that the car shall be properly locked when unattended.

Mechanical defects or any other wear and tear may occur during your rental.
In case a defection has been noticed or you feel any dissatisfaction about any aspect of your rental. In such instances the management should be informed immediately to resolve your issue. Consequently this will help to eliminate further liabilities and damages to the vehicle.
However failing to inform management spontaneously of such issue(s). Equally you will not be eligible for any refunds and/or if the complaints have been lodged after the drop-off of the vehicle rented.

25. Extension of Rental

In the event that the renter requires a car for a longer period than the normal agreed rental period, the renter must obtain a written consent from us via email to: crystalcarsmauritius@gmail.com at least 24 hours prior to the termination of the agreed rental period.

26. Fuel Policy

It is to be noted that the vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel as provided at the start of the rental.
Alternatively the customer will be charged for the missing fuel plus a refueling charge will apply. No refunds for unused fuel will be done.

27. Responsibility

The user is held responsible for all above mentioned clauses.
We accept no responsibility for and shall not be liable in respect of any loss, damage, alterations, delays or changes arising from civil strife, industrial disputes including air traffic control disputes, terrorist activity, natural or nuclear disaster, fire or adverse weather conditions, unavoidable technical problems with transport, closure or congestion of airports or ferry ports, cancellation of scheduled flights or financial failure of airlines. Any and all disputes which may arise between Crystal Car Rental and the Hirer shall fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Mauritius. All judicial expenses will be beared by the hirer.
